OWN A PART OF THE PARK: PLEIN AIR PAINTERS ART SHOW & SALE - MAY 23 - 27

The Conservancy and The Chestnut Group, a local nonprofit organization of plein air painters, will co-host a fundraising art show and exhibit "Own a Part of the Park" from May 23 - 27 at the Parthenon.

"Plein air" is a French expression for painting outside in the open. Artists from the Chestnut Group have been painting outside in Centennial Park for the past year. The art show will feature works by over 60 artists. Almost half of sales will support The Conservancy and help underwrite our programming in the Parthenon and Park.

We invite you to join us for this special fundraising event and have the chance to own your very own part of the park. The exhibit is open on May 23, 24, 25, and 27 from 9 AM to 4:30 PM and May 26 from 12:30 - 4:30 PM.

ABOUT THE CHESTNUT GROUP

The Chestnut Group, a nonprofit organization based in Nashville, Tennessee, is a community of plein air artists passionate about their art form and about the preservation of threatened natural habitats, local landscapes and historic properties of Middle Tennessee. The group welcomes painters of all skill levels in all mediums – oils, acrylics, pastels and watercolors.

Working with valued partners to host collaborative art events, a generous portion of the proceeds from the sale of original artwork is donated to those groups with the same vision of preserving fragile local environments, threatened habitats and protected natural areas. The Chestnuts and their partners represent a unique alliance with the artistic world. To date, The Chestnut Group has raised close to a half-million dollars for preservation partners through the sale of members’ work.

Chestnut membership is not only rich in plein air painters, but also volunteers and environmental enthusiasts who share the group’s commitment to the core values of conservation, education and community. For more information about the group, see www.chestnutgroup.org.
