OWN A PART OF THE PARK: PLEIN AIR PAINTERS ART SALE
The Chestnut Group is a nonprofit alliance of landscape artists and friends dedicated to the conservation and preservation of vanishing landscapes in Middle Tennessee. These pieces were part of the "OWN A PART OF THE PARK: PLEIN AIR ART SHOW" hosted by Centennial Park Conservancy and The Chestnut Group. "Plein air" is a French expression for painting outside in the open. Artists from the Chestnut Group have been painting outside in Centennial Park and in the Parthenon for the past year to create these stunning one-of-a-kind paintings.
Almost half of sales will support Centennial Park Conservancy and help underwrite our programming in the Parthenon and Park.
About the Chestnut Group
The Chestnut Group, a nonprofit organization based in Nashville, Tennessee, is a community of plein air artists passionate about their art form and about the preservation of threatened natural habitats, local landscapes and historic properties of Middle Tennessee. The group welcomes painters of all skill levels in all mediums – oils, acrylics, pastels and watercolors.
Working with valued partners to host collaborative art events, a generous portion of the proceeds from the sale of original artwork is donated to those groups with the same vision of preserving fragile local environments, threatened habitats and protected natural areas. The Chestnuts and their partners represent a unique alliance with the artistic world. To date, The Chestnut Group has raised close to a half-million dollars for preservation partners through the sale of members’ work.
Chestnut membership is not only rich in plein air painters, but also volunteers and environmental enthusiasts who share the group’s commitment to the core values of conservation, education and community. For more information about the group, see www.chestnutgroup.org.
